| 7- Overview |
This day saw the largest number of exhibiting groups since the start of the Uwajima Disaster Prevention Box, and participants experienced 13 booths, collected stamps from 8 booths, and filled out a questionnaire, which gave out prizes. Both children and adults had fun experiencing disaster prevention. At the booths outside, there was a Self-Defense Force vehicle display, photo opportunities to wear uniforms and VR experiences, commemorative photos taken with a backhoe from the Asada Group, an opportunity to stay overnight in a camper van from the ETP Group, a rainfall and mudslide 3D theater, and the chance to actually operate heavy machinery, which was much enjoyed. Inside the hall, there was a smartphone game called "Go with Heavy Machines!", a craft class that is useful in times of disaster, a dam model experience, a reservation for disaster prevention goods sold on the NPO Center website, an experience of difficulty walking during floods, paracord making, an experience of earthquake early warning voice, power outage and toilets, disaster panel display, and more, so it was hard to decide where to start. Paracord making was popular and everyone was busy weaving. In the experience of difficulty walking during floods, participants experienced the load of 10 kg on one foot and 20 kg on both feet in 30 cm of water using snowshoe blocks. On the day, we had volunteers from the local Mima Junior High School and Tsushima Junior High School, as well as disaster prevention specialists from Kagawa Prefecture, who really helped us out. The junior high school students enjoyed volunteering, as if it were a work experience. In a survey conducted at the event, many people answered that they were looking forward to the next Uwajima Disaster Prevention Box, which gave us a real sense that disaster prevention awareness has increased compared to a few years ago. |
