3-Purpose The purpose is to promote disaster prevention and mitigation measures by cleaning up trash that has flowed into rivers due to the July 2018 Western Japan heavy rain disaster and the July 2020 heavy rain disaster. The event also aims to provide an opportunity to think about the issue of ocean trash, starting with river cleaning.

7-Overview
  • 9:00 a.m. - Reception (fill out name list, take temperature)
  • Local community association members, Yoshida High School teachers and students
  • A total of 32 people participated, including parents and children from the city.
  • The weeds that had been cut by the Uwajima NPO Center in advance were collected with a tombac and pulled up using ropes.
  • The heavy lifting will be done mainly by male volunteers and male students from Yoshida High School.
  • ・Clean The Coast representatives will be responsible for weeding the stone walls.
  • Women and female students cut grass on the cherry blossom path
  • 1 ton of garbage collected: 19 bags
  • Bags for city and beautification activities: 50 bags
  • The collected weeds are used as fertilizer in the fields of farmers in Tamatsu.

According to a teacher at Yoshida High School, students have expressed interest in volunteering . After confirming the details of the work and communicating it to the students, several others applied.

Next year, we propose that the event be hosted by a local neighborhood association or an NPO. We would like to continue with the support of the Uwajima NPO Center.
