On October 31st (Sunday), we held a river cleanup using the Iyo Bank Environmental Fund (Evergreen) ! Although the rain on the previous day threatened to hold the event, it was held successfully and 20 people participated. Our center staff had already cut the grass the day before, so all we had to do on the day was to put the cut grass into garbage bags. Some people thought it would be over quickly, but they ended up with 172 bags of trash... The work was completed by 20 people, who climbed the stairs and dumped about 170 garbage bags onto the street. Elementary school and junior high school students also participated, and although they were frustrated by the amount of work they were doing, they did their best. Next time, I hope to see more student participation, and I would like to be able to recruit volunteers smoothly. |
