The Uwajima Media Lab Regional Club was recently featured on the website of the "Ehime Prefecture Uwajima City Junior High School Club Activities Regional Expansion Project," promoted by Komisuku Ehime.
The website outlines the future direction of club activities, emphasizing the expansion of activities beyond school walls, with local communities taking the lead and utilizing external facilities. The Media Lab Regional Club is introduced as one of the active clubs across the entire Uwajima City area.
A club for understanding the community and expressing it in your own words
At the Uwajima Media Lab Regional Club, junior high school students visit shopping streets and people active in the community, researching Uwajima's culture, history, industries, disaster prevention, and more. They record their findings through interviews, photos, and audio, and challenge themselves to communicate the region's charm in the form of articles, radio programs, and other media.
AI is used as an auxiliary tool to help organize interview notes and draft texts. Rather than directly publishing AI-generated content, students think about the content themselves, staff members verify it, and, if necessary, interviewees also review it, thereby learning safe and responsible information dissemination.
Challenges in our activities
