[Protecting Lives, Protecting Livelihoods #6] Disaster Recovery Roadmap: What to Prepare For, Where to Seek Advice
FY2025 Third Ushi-Oni Council Workshop
When a major disaster strikes, our lives undergo significant changes, from living in evacuation shelters to temporary housing, and then to new homes. Throughout this process, various anxieties and challenges arise concerning "money," "procedures," "housing," and "where to seek advice."
This workshop will focus on learning about the flow of post-disaster life reconstruction (roadmap), drawing insights from Uwajima City's experience during the West Japan Floods (July 2018) and case studies from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
"If I were affected by a disaster, where should I go for help?"
"What systems and support are available to rebuild my life?"
The aim is to explore these questions through group work among participants, fostering the ability to "act with foresight" in times of emergency. We encourage you to join this opportunity for NPOs, businesses, government, students, and citizens to discuss across various perspectives.

Ushi-Oni Workshop #3 — Post-Disaster Life Recovery Roadmap
When a major disaster occurs, life changes dramatically—from evacuation shelters to temporary housing and eventually rebuilding homes and communities. During this process, many challenges arise regarding finances, procedures, housing, and consultation services.
This workshop explores the "Life Recovery Roadmap after Disaster", learning from past disasters such as the 2018 West Japan torrential rain disaster. Participants will discuss how communities can prepare for recovery and what support systems are available after a disaster.
Even though the advance application deadline has passed, walk-in participants are still welcome to join on the day of the event.
