🧻 Learning to Make Disaster Toilets with Children

“In times of disaster, preparing for sanitation is as important as preparing food!” With this thought in mind, this workshop was held where children learned how to make simple emergency toilets using cardboard, plastic bags, and cat litter. To ensure they could replicate this at home, the children made their own household toilets and took them home.

After making the toilets, it was time to "cutely decorate" them with stickers and colored paper! Voices like, "I'm going home to buy plastic bags!" and "I made it so cute!" were heard, helping to raise disaster awareness in a fun way.

💡 Background of the Project

In times of disaster, securing sanitation facilities is as essential as securing food. For families with children or the elderly, preparedness can save lives. Through making their own toilets, it provided an opportunity for children to think together about "what to do when in trouble?"
