| 3-Purpose |
・To prepare for a major disaster in the event of a major earthquake along the Nankai Trough, we will build a network of volunteer groups operating within the Shikoku region and share know-how to foster highly specialized volunteers (pro bono human resources) and establish a system that enables mutual support in emergencies within the region. ・After the Bungo Channel earthquake on April 17, there were many requests to lay down blue tarps, but it was difficult to handle them all, so we held a training session for organizations and individuals engaged in support activities to foster highly specialized pro bono personnel. In addition, by having intermediate support organizations and volunteer groups active in Shikoku participate together, we aim to build a volunteer network that allows organizations to cooperate and support each other in the event of a disaster. |

| 7- Overview |
Following the Bungo Channel earthquake on April 17th, the Uwajima NPO Center distributed blue tarps at Uwajima City Hall and set up a consultation desk to talk to people who came to the office. We learned that elderly people had a variety of problems, such as not being able to take photos of the roof themselves or being unable to get onto the roof to work. Our center cooperated with the disaster relief group TEAM B-DASH, which goes to Noto to provide disaster relief, and the disaster relief NPO Uwajima 7-7, and held a workshop on setting up blue tarps, which was attended by many people. During the morning lecture, participants learned how to set up tarps, what tools to use, and how to deal with dangers, and then had a lesson on how to make assist tiles out of cardboard. In the afternoon, the participants had a practical session using ladders to learn how to climb onto a roof, using pulleys, ropes and harnesses, and they also had the opportunity to try installing a blue tarp using a model. We would like to continue holding similar seminars for those involved in volunteer activities in the future. |
