The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for people to rediscover the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake, which are gradually fading from memory, to think about the disasters occurring all over Japan as something that concerns them personally, to learn about disasters by listening to the voices of those who experienced them, to raise awareness of disaster prevention by learning about the existence of professional volunteer groups, and to realize the importance of self-help, mutual aid, and "collaboration" rather than relying solely on public assistance. |

| 7- Overview |
A disaster prevention and volunteer festival was held at Sunport Takamatsu in Kagawa Prefecture on November 18, 2023, with approximately 30 organizations participating and exhibiting. Due to bad weather on the day, the content of the event had to be changed at the last minute, but the catfish school at our center's booth became extremely popular and exciting halfway through. The fact that it was a picture storytelling show and that there was no single answer created excitement among the children, and it was popular with people of all ages, including members of other groups, some of whom were even willing to wait to take part. Participants were given disaster prevention supplies as gifts, which they were very pleased with. At the lecture, the mayor of Uwajima took the stage and spoke about his experience during the heavy rains in western Japan. He learned a lot of things that I didn't know, and I was deeply moved by the response of the local government at the time. The next day, on the 19th, there was a heavy machinery training session taught by members of the disaster support team B-DASH. They taught us kindly and patiently, so we had a fun day of learning and it was a valuable experience. |
