7-Overview |
Before the event, Mr. Nishimoto conducted a coastal garbage survey and determined the low tide date and time before the event. Canceled on the 10th due to thunderstorms, postponed to the following day, the 11th. Yoshida and Koike were connected live online. (Yoshida) Mainly collecting trash washed up on the beach. A light truck patrols the roads along the beach and collects large pieces of trash. The first light truck was filled with wood. Lifts of plastic and Styrofoam are noticeable. The local youth baseball team participated and it was lively. We collected beautiful sea glass and had fun cleaning it up. For lunch, with the help of local people, we will serve disaster prevention curry that is unique to Yoshida Town. After the meal, we read picture books about disaster experiences to the children. The event ended as a sea cleanup and disaster prevention education event at the edge of the sea, so as not to forget the lessons of the heavy rains in western Japan three years ago. (Koike) The corners of the beach are covered with bushes, and it is necessary to scrape them out with a hoe before picking them up. Volunteers mowed the grass in advance. The tetrapod is full of Styrofoam powder. People from the seafood company clean the area regularly. Also household garbage such as bicycles. Sorted at a garbage station (created by Clean the coast) set up at a nearby elementary school. Souvenirs such as disaster prevention food and disaster towels. ( Kushima) Scoop up and collect the garbage accumulated inside the tetrapod. The sunlight heats up the tetrapod, creating a sauna inside. Work and then take breaks without overdoing it. There are also people who are unwell. The garbage is also sorted at a garbage station (created by Clean the coast) built at a nearby elementary school. Cool down with shaved ice after work. (Koike/Kushima) There were no restrooms nearby, so we used the Uwajima City toilet car. Although the event was changed from the 10th to the 11th, many people participated and we were able to collect a lot of trash. I would like to continue holding this event in the future. |
